Tekken 6 did not have good netcode. In other news, Kazuya’s EWGF is “kind of okay.” Namco Bandai’s new trailer for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 doesn’t dwell on the past. Beyond the expected ranked and player matches, replay mode and lobbies showcased we get a first look at the World Tekken Federation, probably the first online statistic tracking and social hub for a console fighting game. See the trailer after the jump.
I’m not a Tekken player by trade – I like my uppercuts to be invincible and fling me six feet into the air – but all of these feature trailers are making me very interested in a title that until recently I was unsure about. The recent trailer showcasing the tutorial mode is absurd to the max. Chickens! Robots! Giant Feng! Madness.
Tekken 6 did have some notable flaws. It came out with bad netcode, no tutorial and the main feature of the console port being the slightly dodgy Scenario Campaign mode. It’s a good sign that this time around the focus is on being a great fighting game package, instead of trying to appeal to the widest audience possible.
